Isn’t it enough to eat and to travel? Of course not! But it’s time to start doing something else as holidays are over and the new year has began. We all promise to become a better version of ourselves each new year. And this time I suggest that you start with the most pleasant and easiest thing. Yes, it’s not about gym it’s about cherishing an aesthetic part of you and to start going to mecca of all opera lovers – Teatro alla Scala.
We in Milano are spoiled with many opportunities and especially for that reason it’s even more difficult to discipline ourselves and to organize nights out not only to eat but also to attend some cultural events in theaters of Milano.
I became a mother last year and it means that my life has changed in 180 degrees. I used to attend Teatro Alla Scala about once a year before and during 6 months that I have a kid I did it 3 times! That what happens to you when you have to plan in advance and are forced not to ignore time management:)
Thanks to this frequency Teatro alla Scala finally recognized me as their loyal visitor and has recently sent to me its seasonal guide with events description, calendar and also with the dates of sales for special price tickets. And it’s a great news as who would refuse to seat in the middle of the parter for a half price:) And that is an information that I would like to share with you.
So the theater has a great program called La ScalAperta that lets you purchase tickets with 50% discount. The idea is that the theater offers limited amount of tickets on certain performances. All you need to do is to know the date when the sale starts and to go to the website of Teatro alla Scala and to buy tickets. Be aware that they are selling fast and if you want to get the best seats – hurry up! Pay attention that there is a limit of 2 tickets per person.
For convenience of lazy intellectuals I am sharing here with you the dates for the three upcoming sales:
- January 29 – opera Il Trovatore, performance on February 26
- February 19 – opera Il turco in Italia, performance on March 17
- February 19 – opera Salome, performance on March 31
My personal choice will be Salome, based on a play of Oscar Wilde. I am curious to see it because in 1905, when this opera was performed for the first time, it was called scandalous and obscene, the audience was shocked. And now more than a hundred years after you can see by yourself how the standards of the society changed and check if there is still anything amoral in Salome.
And please don’t forget to add a touch of hedonism to your evening by creating the mood: dress up, walk or come in a cool car with Uber Black in advance and read libretto while sipping aperitivo in a proper ambiance.
By the my favorite options for that are: seating by a street table of Il Foyer restaurant in summer (to my mind it’s the best for people watching) and inside of Trussardi cafe in winter (don’t miss the appetizers as they are exceptional).
So how about the plans for March 31? Let me guess…:)
